CHURCH OF SCOTLAND.
The Kirk Session having met on the 28th July 2020 and, having secured permission from the Church of Scotland and approval of our Risk Assessment, plans and procedures by Presbytery of Hamilton, have decided that the church should re-open for Sunday Service on
Sunday the 23rd August at 11.30am
In order that we maintain social distancing we are restricting the numbers within the Sanctuary to 40. To ensure that we do not exceed that number we are having to introduce a booking system where members of the congregation will be required to register their desire to attend by the Wednesday prior to the service they wish to come to.
I would ask you to call our dedicated booking number and give your name, contact number and number in your party. You can leave a message if it’s not answered or you can send a text message.
This will ensure that when you arrive on the Sunday morning we will already have your name , contact number and details of who is attending with you. This is required by law to support the Governments Test and Protect programme. If we cannot accommodate you or your party we will contact you before Sunday. If you do not hear from us then you can assume you have been allocated a seat or seats. If you are unable to attend a service you are booked into please call the above number and we will allocate the space to someone on the waiting list.
Entry will be through the main door as normal or via the disability ramp if so required. Exit will be through both the main door and the side door. Sunday’s will be quite different until the lockdown is fully relaxed. Prior to entering the Sanctuary you must wear a mask ( please bring your own),sanitise your hands and will be directed to a specific seat to ensure social distancing. Family members and individuals are equally welcome.
Regrettably, there will be no singing although we will have music. An offering will be collected at the front door in the usual manner.
After the service you should remain in your seat until directed around the one-way system by one of the duty squads and please do not gather outside in large groups. While the large hall will be open there will be no teas or coffees. Only enter the hall to use the toilets and always use the sanitising dispensers in the corridor.
If you are in a high-risk category you should carefully consider if it is appropriate for you to attend. We have taken every possible step to ensure your wellbeing including an increased cleaning programme and the purchase of a fogging machine to quickly and effectively disinfect the Sanctuary after each use. Also, if you have been experiencing symptoms or have been in contact with a carrier you should not attend.
We will be endeavouring to stream Mr Beattie’s service online through the website as we have been doing for the past few months for the benefit of those who cannot attend.
We will not be distributing flowers for the foreseeable future but I would ask you to let me or your elder know of anyone in need of contact from our Pastoral Care team.
You may have questions you need answers to and so your own elders contact details are below and my number is also listed below. Do not hesitate to call.
I look forward to seeing 40 of you every Sunday until we can fully re-open with no restrictions. In God’s name I wish you good health and stay safe.
